West Lothian College Student Speaks at Parliamentary Reception
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the former West Lothian College student, Kevin Neary, on being selected from nominations from colleges across Scotland to speak at the recent Colleges Scotland Parliamentary Reception; commends Kevin for his groundbreaking work on raising awareness across Scotland of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and trauma-informed practice; notes that Kevin is a co-founder of Aid and Abet, a charity that supports people involved in the criminal justice system in Edinburgh and Lothian; congratulates him on achieving his first-ever qualification, an SVQ Social Services (SCQF Level 7), in 2019 through West Lothian College, and recognises that the college and its student association are making significant progress as an ACEs-aware, trauma-informed college, with partners such as Kevin and the West Lothian ACEs Hub.
