Shetland Wool Week
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the success of the 10th Shetland Wool Week, which was held between 28 September and 6 October 2019; notes that Wool Week is a celebration of Shetland's textile heritage and includes 400 exhibitions, classes and tours across Shetland, from lace knitting in Unst to tours of Fair Isle; understands that it began in 2010 in response to the Prince of Wales' campaign to promote sheep farming and wool, and that this year saw over 1,000 visitors from all over the world, which is expected to bring in more than £1 million to the local economy; considers Oliver Henry of Jamieson and Smith to be a fantastic patron of Wool Week 2019, having worked closely with Shetland wool for 52 years through all stages of production; congratulates everyone involved in organising the events, and looks forward to another successful year in 2020.
