Lochrosque and Kinlochewe Estates
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Lochrosque and Kinlochewe Estates in Wester Ross on winning the Enhancing our Environment Award at the Scottish Land and Estates’ Helping It Happen Awards; understands that the estate comprises 35,000 acres, runs 1,200 North Country Cheviots and 40 Luing Cows, and manages salmon fishing, grouse moors and hinds and stags; acknowledges the successful native woodland reintroduction project, which has seen 1,700 acres of native pinewood planted in four schemes, supporting a range of biodiversity; further acknowledges the successful Peat Wetland project, which has supported a mosaic of 3,500 mini lochans on a 400-acre site, creating a biodiversity absent for decades; considers that the estate’s work is contributing to the Scottish Government’s land management objectives, and wishes the estate continued success in the future.
