Kanzen Medal Success at European Karate Championships
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Dundee and Angus-based Kanzen Karate after a successful outing at the WUKF European Karate Championships in Odense, Denmark; understands that the event was held between 24 and 27 October 2019 and featured thousands of athletes, coaches, officials and spectators; further understands that the squad of eight athletes and two coaches were among the group selected to represent Scotland at this prestigious event, with Kanzen athletes performing exceptionally well winning three gold medals, four silver medals and five bronze medals; acknowledges that the 14-15 Years Boys Team, made up of Rhys Gilchrist, Glenn Millar and Oliver Bruce, dominated their age categories, winning the Team Kata and Team Kumite events, with Caitlyn Macrae also becoming WUKF European Champion, winning the 13 Years Female Cadet Ippon Section; notes that Kanzen runs classes in Dundee, Carnoustie, Arbroath and Forfar, and wishes the club continued success in the future.
