Universities on Strike

Lodged by Neil Findlay Standard Motion 10 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament supports the University and College Union lecturers who it considers have been forced to take eight days of industrial action in defence of their pay and pensions; understands that the dispute has been provoked by increased casualisation and insecurity in the sector, increased workload, falling real terms wages and the undermining of existing pensions arrangements, and calls on the employers to drop what it sees as their intransigence and get back to the negotiating table and settle with the union representing lecturers across the UK.
