Ochiltree Community Hub Wins 2019 SURF Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Ochiltree Community Hub on winning the 2019 SURF Award for Community Led Regeneration; understands that, following the closure of the town's community centre and library, members of the community came together to create a new community-run, purpose-built facility incorporating a café, reading area, hall space and meeting rooms, which are available for the delivery of a range of services; notes that, in addition to a community asset transfer of land from East Ayrshire Council, the community raised in excess of £1.8 million to fund the new building, which opened earlier in 2019; commends everyone involved in creating Ochiltree Community Hub for their efforts and commitment to the local community, and hopes that their success will prove an inspiration to other communities.
