The motion

That the Parliament is encouraged by the progress of movements to bring a small community cinema to Alva; understands that those at the heart of the town’s Cochrane Hall are hoping to secure a projector and screen in order to expand the facilities in the hall; welcomes the news that customers to the Co-op in Alva chose to support the cause at their local store through its Community Fund; acknowledges that Alva Development Trust, which runs the venue, has also recently thanked these Co-op customers for choosing to support the initiative; considers that the trust has explained in its community action plan report that there is a demand for cinema facilities in the town, where films can be screened at a low cost, and welcomes the project’s aims to address local needs, promote wellbeing, help prevent isolation and help foster the concept of community cohesion.
