Victory for French Trade Unions

Lodged by Neil Findlay Standard Motion 1 supporter

The motion

That the Parliament commends the French trade unions that inspired the people to take to the streets in their tens of thousands for anti-government protests against plans by President Macron to increase the full benefits retirement age from 62 to 64; understands that actions across the country, including six weeks of transport strikes, have forced the French Government to back down and withdraw the new age limit, and believes that this is an excellent example of direct action and activism securing results.
