NHS Lothian's A&E Waiting Times, the Worst in Scotland

Lodged by Neil Findlay Standard Motion 0 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament understands with concern that more people than ever in the NHS Lothian area are waiting longer than 12 hours to be seen at A&E; notes that the Scottish Government has set a target of 95% of people presenting at A&E being seen within four hours, but that only 81.4% of people in NHS Lothian are being seen within that timeframe; believes that behind these figures are people waiting longer in pain, discomfort and worry and NHS staff working hard in a highly-pressurised environment; considers this to be part of a wider context in which the NHS is under-resourced, under-staffed and under pressure, and calls on the Scottish Government to fund the NHS properly so that people can access care and treatment at A&E when they need it.
