NHS Lothian in Special Measures

Lodged by Neil Findlay Standard Motion 5 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament notes with concern the resignation of NHS Lothian’s Chairman and the action to place the board under special measures; understands that this resignation comes after disagreements with the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport in relation to the handling of the new Royal Hospital for Children and Young People project in Edinburgh; notes the reported increase in waiting times, the ongoing issues with the children's ward at St John's Hospital in Livingston, what it sees as the crisis in social care and under-staffing of services, as well as the reported budget deficit, and calls on the Scottish Government to take immediate action to improve services for patients and working conditions for staff at NHS Lothian.
