The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) team in the Western Isles on receiving a very positive report by Education Scotland for its Career Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) services; understands that the report recognised the proactive and flexible approach of the team and praised its performance in numerous areas, including the increase in the last year in the number of Next Steps customers progressing to learning, training or work; notes that, over the last three years, the participation measure for Western Isles has been above national performance levels and that there have been no school leavers whose destination is unknown; commends the efforts made by the team to develop and implement the SDS CIAG Gaelic Service offer, including raising awareness of the range of Gaelic careers-related opportunities available to young people; praises the support that the team has given to primary schools to implement the career education standard and introduce career management skills; recognises the dedication of the SDS team in the Western Isles and the support that its members offer to people at all stages of their careers, and wishes the team continued success.
