The motion

The Parliament notes that the World Health Organization (WHO) declared on 31 January 2020 that the outbreak of 2019 novel coronavirus originating from Wuhan, China, is a public health emergency of international concern; further notes with regret that Taiwan has not been granted observer status to attend WHO technical meetings, mechanisms and activities related to the epidemic; acknowledges that Taiwan has made successful efforts to combat the disease on its own and is willing and in a position to share with WHO and other countries its expertise and experience, and supports Taiwan’s observer status inclusion in related meetings to jointly fight this epidemic.
