Young Start Funding Supports Type 1 Diabetes Youth Empowerment Programme
The motion
That the Parliament notes the awarding of £34,990 from the Young Start Fund to the Glasgow Kelvin-based charity, the British Diabetic Association; understands that the funding will support the organisation to deliver its Young Leaders project, which will provide peer support for young people with type 1 diabetes; further understands that the funding will enable the creation of a Youth Development Officer post focused on improving wellbeing, reducing feelings of isolation and increasing confidence in self-management for the 200 young people it aims to reach; believes that such activities will empower young people while providing important health support; welcomes National Lottery funding collected from dormant bank accounts that support community groups and activities, and wishes all involved with the British Diabetic Association continued success in 2020.
