Poppies Pre-school, Laurencekirk

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Poppies Pre-school, which is in Laurencekirk, on being named the winner of the Outdoor category at the inaugural Celebrating ELC Awards; acknowledges that it was recognised by the ELC Academy for its hard work over the last three years to develop a new building and outdoor space; recognises that the school follows the Froebelian philosophy that the outdoors are of high importance to children’s health, wellbeing and learning and engaging and stimulating outdoor spaces give children a chance to play for long periods and develop a greater sense of freedom and autonomy in their day-to-day activities; recognises what it sees are the clear benefits of outdoor play to the pupils' physical and mental development; thanks the school's staff and the children's families for their dedication in ensuring the completion of the project, and wishes all involved with the school the very best for the years ahead.
