Wester Rum Distillery Packing a Punch in Partick
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the development and growth of the Wester Spirit Company, a very small independent company with three staff members; understands that the company has been distilling from July 2017 in Strathearn Distillery, and that, since November 2018, has been based in Glasgow’s Partick where it operates a micro-distillery and tour facility; understands that the company has been named after an old sugar refinery in Glasgow’s Candleriggs, and is believed to be the first distillery in Glasgow to make rum for 300 years; understands that the company will expand its product range to include a new spiced rum, a white rum and an aged rum; believes that the establishment of a new premium craft drinks production company in the city of Glasgow reflects the success of the nation’s vibrant food and drinks sector, and wishes all involved continued success.
