Heriot-Watt Team Develop New Artificial Intelligence Software
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Alana, an Edinburgh-based spin-off company of Heriot-Watt University, on its official launch; understands that the company is pioneering a touch-free interface, which is differentiated from other voice-activated assistants by its ability to hold extended conversations; notes that the conversations benefit from machine learning and that this technology allows them to grow more sophisticated over time, and recognises that Alana is working across a range of sectors, with the expectation of greater future demand for these advanced, touch-free interfaces.
