Destination Tweed
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £299,000 for the Destination Tweed project, which is being developed by the Tweed Forum in collaboration with Scottish Borders Council and aims to create a 100-mile trail from the source of the Tweed near Moffat to where it meets the sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed; notes that the trail will encourage tourism to the Borders and will create a focal point for environmental conservation and development projects, as well as allow for archaeological interpretation; acknowledges that it will cost an estimated £20 million to develop and that the Borderlands Partnership has already committed to providing £11 million; commends the work of all the organisations involved in the planning of Destination Tweed, and wishes them all the best with its development.
