Lessons Learned from Schoolteachers on PPE

That the Parliament recognises the innovation of teachers in Scotland who are donating, designing and making personal protective equipment (PPE) for frontline workers to keep them safe from COVID-19; commends teachers at Larbert and Denny high schools in Falkirk for their efforts in using 3D printers and laser cutting equipment within their design and technology faculties to manufacture face shields; notes that local hospitals, pharmacies, GP practices, hospices and care homes have requested supplies, which has been possible due to kind donations of materials from Larbert Round Table and local businesses; understands that similar practices are being undertaken by schools and teachers across Scotland; further understands that demand for PPE across health, care and public-facing roles continues to grow and that there are continued concerns over lack of supply, and notes the calls from the Royal College of Nursing Scotland, Scottish Care, the Royal College of General Practitioners, GMB Scotland and many other trade unions and professional bodies for further action to be taken by the Scottish Government and employers to ensure that all workers have the protection that they need.
