Renfrewshire Company, James Fisher Defence, Develops New Ventilator System
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that James Fisher Defence (JFD) of Renfrewshire is to manufacture a new patient ventilator system for use during the COVID-19 outbreak; applauds the company, which normally produces engineering diving equipment, for answering the UK Government’s call for manufacturing firms to help produce such items; understands that JDF’s new InVicto system has been tested and is ready to be used in hospitals, care homes and healthcare centres; is pleased to note that the equipment will use less oxygen than current systems, which will help lessen the strain on NHS oxygen supplies; notes that this was a key consideration during the development process, and commends JDF for the part that it is playing in helping to support patients and frontline NHS staff.
