Stalking Awareness Week 2020

That the Parliament welcomes Stalking Awareness Week, which takes place between 20 and 25 April 2020; recognises that, this year, the Suzy Lamplugh Trust and the National Stalking Consortium are highlighting the urgent need to "See Stalking Clearly" and to ensure stalking victims are still visible and supported throughout the response to COVID-19; understands that recorded offences of stalking have more than doubled since 2012 in Scotland, with young women being the most prevalent victims; applauds the aim to increase public knowledge of this devastating crime and to direct victims to seek assistance through support agencies and resources, such as the national stalking helpline; notes the impact that stalking has on the mental health of victims, and commends Action Against Stalking, alongside other similar charities, for the support and advice that it provides to victims.
