Earth Day 2020
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that 22 April 2020 is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day; understands the theme this year is climate action; notes that, in light of COVID-19, people are being encouraged to use a digital platform to mobilise others to take meaningful action to address the climate emergency across the world, including thousands of households across Scotland; understands that the first Earth Day, in 1970, is credited with launching the modern environmental movement; recognises the work that organisations across Scotland are doing to raise awareness, and calls on countries to work together to tackle climate change and save the planet for future generations.
