Motion · S5M-21653 · 4 May 2020
£70,000 Raised for Stornoway Bethesda Hospice
The motion
That the Parliament commends Megan MacDonald for her fundraising activities in aid of Bethesda Nursing Home and Hospice in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis; understands that the virtual raffle, organised through JustGiving.com and Facebook Live, was supported by over 100 other businesses from across the Highlands and Islands; recognises that, having set an initial fundraising target of £700, the raffle blew through this target and raised nearly £70,000 over the course of only a few weeks; praises the 3,695 people from across the world who contributed to the JustGiving page; considers this a fantastic demonstration of the how much Bethesda is cherished and valued by the community; understands that the Bethesda charity is experiencing financial strain during the COVID-19 restrictions, and hopes that the sum will allow the charity to continue its important work in the islands.
