Crucial Role of Seafarers
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the crucial role that seafarers play in national supply chains and the wider economy; commends the hard work and dedication of UK seafarers in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, doing their utmost to keep their cargo, shipmates and passengers safe; notes that some UK crew members remain stranded abroad, and international efforts to provide relief remain ongoing; supports work to safeguard the safety of seafarers, at home and overseas, to ensure safe operations during the current coronavirus crisis, and believes that the UK Government should seek to facilitate a co-ordinated international effort to ensure seafarers can travel to return to their home countries safely and as early as possible.
