Shelter Scotland's Three-point Plan
The motion
That the Parliament notes Shelter Scotland’s three-point plan, which calls for the building of 53,000 affordable homes during the next parliamentary session in order to meet housing need and tackle child poverty; acknowledges that Shelter Scotland is also calling for the emergency protections for renters to be extended by a minimum of six months to ensure that nobody loses their home as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and for people to be empowered to guarantee their right to a safe home through the introduction of a new human rights bill, which includes a right to a safe home; understands the difficulties faced by people across Scotland as a result of the coronavirus, particularly in relation to housing, and calls on the Scottish Government to do all it can to ensure that there is no return to rough sleeping and people living in unsuitable accommodation after the pandemic is over.
