Co-operatives Fortnight
The motion
That the Parliament notes that Co-operatives Fortnight takes place from 22 June until 5 July 2020; acknowledges the long history of co-operatives in the Scottish economy and what it sees as their important role today and in the future; welcomes the efforts made by many co-operatives to make a difference during the coronavirus pandemic; understands that 65% of Scots in a recent survey believe that the economy would be fairer post-pandemic with more co-operatives; considers that co-operative models are an inclusive way of progressing fairly towards net-zero emissions in a range of sectors, including housing transport and farming; believes that more should be done to democratise the economy, and calls on the Scottish Government to look for ways to further expand the co-operative economy.
