The motion

That the Parliament notes the open letter from the Music Venues Alliance calling for financial help to prevent the collapse of the sector as a result of COVID-19; understands that the letter has been signed by the owners and operators of more than 40 grassroots music venues in the North East and across Scotland; notes the calls for the Scottish Government to provide an immediate £3.4 million financial support package to cover the losses venues will face between July and September 2020, and the calls for the UK Government to cut VAT on future ticket sales; considers that live music venues are absolutely essential to the recovery of the music industry as a whole; believes that, without immediate financial support, many such venues will face closure this summer, and looks forward to the sector receiving the assistance that it believes it so urgently needs.
