Robert Miller's COVID-19 Art Tribute to Glasgow Royal Infirmary Staff
The motion
That the Parliament commends the Glasgow artist and musician, Robert Miller, for creating and gifting a painting in tribute to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) staff and their response to the COVID-19 pandemic; notes that the 5ft by 4ft artwork has been installed outside the Intensive Care Unit of Glasgow Royal Infirmary and captures the anaesthetist, Dr Kathryn Puxty, physiotherapist, Helen Devine, and senior charge nurse, Suzi Madden; understands that Robert Miller, who worked on the project for 10 hours a day over the course of a week, videoed himself making the painting and created a time-lapsed video accompanied by the song, Voice of an Angel, sung by his wife, May; commends John Stuart, Chief Nurse for NHSGGC’s North Sector, for commissioning the painting to capture the enormous efforts made by staff; notes that the artist took no payment and the framer also contributed their materials and work free of charge; commends Robert for his generosity and for creating a beautiful painting, and thanks everyone involved in this project for commemorating the dedication of Scotland's amazing NHS staff.
