72 Years of NHS in the Borders
The motion
That the Parliament notes NHS Borders’ intention to mark the 72nd anniversary of the NHS on 5 July, with 2020 also marking the 72nd year of social care services; believes that the anniversary offers a chance for staff, patients and the Borders' public to recognise the difference that the NHS has made to people’s lives on a daily basis in that time, particularly in times of crisis such as the current COVID-19 pandemic; understands that NHS Borders is encouraging Borderers to get involved in a number of national initiatives to mark the occasion, including The Together Coalition’s request that people put a light in their window or on their doorstep in remembrance on the evening of 4 July, and taking part in a final clap for carers and key workers at 5pm on 5 July; thanks all those who have been involved in the NHS in the Borders over the last 72 years for all their hard work and compassion, and wishes them all the best for the coming years.
