The motion

That the Parliament recognises the innovation and creativity of the organisers of the Hebridean Celtic Festival in transforming their cancelled festival of 2020, which was scheduled for 15 to 18 July, into an opportunity to host a virtual programme of events; notes that, in addition to raising money for the local charity, Bethesda Nursing Home and Hospice, the online sessions provided an opportunity for people from around the world to experience Scottish cultural events online; acknowledges that 2020 would have seen the Festival celebrate its 25th year on the Scottish festival circuit, before COVID-19 forced a shutdown; notes that last year the Festival brought in approximately £2 million of economic benefit to the Western Isles, and supports the Hebridean Celtic Festival moving forward as it plans its rescheduled 25th anniversary celebrations in 2021.
