Culling of Mountain Hares
The motion
That the Parliament notes that the mountain hare culling season commences on 1 August 2020; is concerned that, despite and indeed because of, the proposed introduction of a licensing scheme endorsed by the Scottish Parliament in the Animal and Wildlife (Penalties, Protection and Powers) (Scotland) Act 2020, there will be increased culling in defiance of the spirit, if not the letter, of the law, and therefore calls on the Scottish Government to introduce in the interim an outright ban on culling until the licensing scheme is in place.
