Simon Hewitt, New Principal of Dundee and Angus College

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the appointment of Simon Hewitt as the new principal of Dundee and Angus College; understands that Mr Hewitt has worked at Dundee and Angus College for over 12 years as a lecturer in computing, a head of department and vice principal; acknowledges Mr Hewitt’s significant contribution to Scottish public life both locally in Dundee and nationally, including being a board member for the Dundee Science Centre, the Digital Skills Partnership, and the Worker’s Educational Association Scotland, as well as being a member of the SQA Advisory Council, an Associate Assessor with Education Scotland, a non-executive director for the Students Awards Agency for Scotland and Chair of the College Curriculum Vice Principal Network; believes that this wealth of experience will be a significant contribution to the future of Dundee and Angus College; notes the exemplary work of Mr Hewitt’s predecessor, Grant Ritchie, who served as Principal until earlier this year; praises Dundee and Angus College for its ongoing commitment to delivering outstanding higher education to its student population, and wishes both Mr Hewitt and Dundee and Angus College every success in the future.
