North Lanarkshire Council’s Plan to Implement Anti-racism Education

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the passing of a North Lanarkshire Council motion, which called on the Chief Executive and Head of Education to work with the Scottish Government, Education Scotland, COSLA and teaching unions to produce and implement anti-racism teaching resources in its school syllabus; notes that this plan also includes implementation of education on Britain’s involvement in, and the effect of, colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade economy; congratulates the proposers of the motion on its success, and hopes that this action will be a step in the right direction of ensuring that anti-racism education is an integral part of the Scottish curriculum, reflecting an inclusive society.
