River Dee Trust Continues Tree Planting
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the commitment by the River Dee Trust to plant a further 50,000 native trees in the North East, after it reached the milestone of planting 200,000 trees earlier in the summer; understands that this is part of a project by the River Dee Trust to plant one million riverside trees on the banks of the Dee in order to tackle the effects of climate change by providing cooling shade and restoring lost habitats; recognises that rising temperatures can have a damaging effect on the wild salmon population in the River Dee, and commends the River Dee Trust, the Dee District Salmon Fishery Board and Fisheries Management Scotland for their commitment to taking action to protect and restore riverside ecosystems.
