Eight-year-old from Giffnock raises £6,459.75 for Charity
The motion
That the Parliament commends eight-year-old Eastwood constituency resident, Fraser Cameron, on being shortlisted for the Young Heart Hero category at the 2020 British Heart Foundation's Heart Hero Awards after he raised the hugely impressive sum of £6,459.75 for charity alongside his father, Ewen; acknowledges that the award recognises young people who are under the age of 18 and have done something incredible to raise money for charity; understands that Fraser helped to raise £3,311 for British Heart Foundation Scotland and £3,148.75 for Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance by participating in a fundraising walk; recognises that his father walked the 200-mile Drovers Road from Skye to Crieff, with Fraser taking part in the final 100 miles of the journey; notes that Fraser was inspired to raise money for charity in memory of his grandmother, who sadly passed away because of heart and circulatory disease; further notes that Fraser lives in Giffnock and that he encouraged his fellow school pupils at Hutchesons' Grammar School to consider raising money for charity through a presentation that he and his dad made to the school assembly explaining what they did and why; congratulates Fraser on his exceptional achievement of walking 100 miles at just eight years of age to raise such a large amount of money for charity, and wishes him all the best at the awards.
