TSB Closures in Penicuik and Peebles
The motion
That the Parliament notes with disappointment reports of the decision by TSB to close 73 branches across Scotland, including in Peebles in the Borders and in Penicuik in Midlothian; believes that, at a time when many people are feeling isolated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face banking services have been a lifeline for many; considers that, while digital services are an important part of banking services today, there will always be a need for face-to-face provision for those who are unable to access them for a number of social and economic reasons, particularly those in vulnerable groups; calls on TSB to review this decision as a matter of urgency, and sends its solidarity to local TSB staff who will now be facing an uncertain future.
