Aberdeen City Council, Local Authority of the Year
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen City Council on being named Local Authority of the Year at the Municipal Journal’s MJ Local Government Achievement Awards 2020; notes that the judges recognised the authority’s “impressive story to tell in terms of its changing economic context and the bold steps it is taking to deliver an unprecedented transformation of the city through a pioneering capital programme and significant investments in the social and cultural future of its communities”; notes that Aberdeen City Council was one of only two Scottish councils to reach the finals of the awards, and the only Scottish finalist in its category; congratulates all those involved in achieving this status, including the leadership, administration and workforce of Aberdeen City Council, and looks forward to continuing recognition of the council’s innovative and effective approach by the wider local government family.
