Helimed-79 Flies to Nearly 100 Emergencies in its First Six Months
The motion
That the Parliament recognises that Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) second aircraft, Helimed-79, has flown to nearly 100 medical emergencies in its first six months of operation; understands that the Helimed-79, which is based at Aberdeen International Airport, has flown almost 10,000 nautical miles since it started responding to emergencies across the North East, and as far north as Orkney, since 3 April 2020; believes that the addition of the Helimed-79 to SCAA’s air ambulance fleet has been vital for expanding capacity of the service and shortening response times to sick and injured patients, helping to improve patient care and potentially save lives; pays tribute to the outstanding fundraising campaign by SCAA and generous support from the public that has allowed the Helimed-79 to carry out these important missions since April; thanks all members of the air ambulance crew for the exceptional work that they carry out every day, helping those in need and protecting communities, particularly in remote and rural parts of Scotland, and wishes everyone involved with SCAA and the operation of the Helimed-79 the very best as they continue to provide this lifesaving service.
