World Arthritis Day 2020
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges that 12 October 2020 is World Arthritis Day, which is a global initiative that aims to raise awareness of arthritis and other musculoskeletal diseases; understands that arthritis affects around 60,000 people in Scotland and around 2,500 are diagnosed every year, many of whom suffer debilitating pain and fatigue as a result; notes that the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) is marking the day by hosting a live broadcast and discussion forum around the employment risks and impacts for people with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions resulting from COVID-19; wishes EULAR every success with its event; recognises the lifelong challenges that living with arthritis and similar conditions can bring, and hopes that World Arthritis Day will encourage more support for efforts to prevent, treat and cure these conditions.
