The motion

That the Parliament recognises that 9 to 15 October 2020 is Baby Loss Awareness Week; notes that this is an annual event that seeks to raise awareness of pregnancy and baby death in the UK; understands that this is a deeply traumatic experience that happens to many women in the UK every year; acknowledges that this can be an incredibly lonely time for women and their families and that more needs to be done to make them feel less isolated in their grief; recognises that such an event has been made a more difficult experience during the COVID-19 pandemic due to social distancing measures, which have impacted access to care and support; encourages people to engage with the campaign online, where there will be a range of support and awareness events, including specific events for BAME and LGBTQ+ parents; notes that this week of events will conclude with the Wave of Light on 15 October, during which people are encouraged to light a candle in memory of babies lives gone too soon, and endeavours to take all the action possible to support women and their families when they are going through the experience of pregnancy and baby death.
