Lodged by Rachael Hamilton (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party)
Members' Business Motion 13 supporters
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the reported swift response of Transport Scotland and BEAR Scotland to reopen the vital A68 trunk road connecting the Scottish Borders to Edinburgh; thanks the communities and businesses affected for their patience and understanding of the situation; believes that there is a clear risk of landslides to crucial Scottish roads such as the A68 and the A83 at the Rest and Be Thankful, which have recently experienced what it sees as disasters causing closures and widespread disruption to travellers who depend on them, and believes that weather and climate are key influences on the triggering of debris flows in Scotland and that climate change models generally indicate that such events may become more frequent and/or more intense in the future.
