Aberdeen Art Gallery Wins 2020 Art Fund Museum of the Year Award
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen Art Gallery on being announced as a winner of the Art Fund Museum of the Year 2020, which it considers to be the most prestigious museum prize in the world; understands that, in recognition of the challenges that all museums face this year, five winning museums were named and will share the £200,000 award; recognises that, following ambitious redevelopment works that were completed in November 2019, the gallery welcomed over 100,000 visitors in under 100 days prior to the COVID-19 outbreak; notes that it has now reopened and will continue to serve as a hub for the community and attract visitors to Aberdeen as the country recovers; thanks all the team at the gallery for their hard work and resilience, and wishes them continued success.
