Undercover Policing
The motion
That the Parliament notes reports that the Metropolitan Police has paid compensation to a man who was fathered by an undercover police officer; understands that the undercover police officer had a role infiltrating animal rights and political groups; believes that undercover police officers often used the identities of dead children in their role and that the Metropolitan Police had not previously acknowledged the mental trauma that such actions can cause; is concerned that victims of undercover policing in Scotland are the only ones in mainland UK who do not have access to a full public inquiry, and calls on the Scottish Government to hold its own public inquiry in relation to undercover policing in Scotland.
