Unite Hospitality and Tourism Rescue Plan
The motion
That the Parliament supports Unite the Union’s Hospitality and Tourism Rescue Plan; acknowledges what it considers the urgency for adopting and implementing the measures outlined in the plan, which are to provide a sector-specific job retention scheme, provide adequate sick pay and routine testing, establish a plan to retain workers, establish a Hospitality Commission working between employer, union and government, and ensure that financial support is conditional on employers committing to improve the terms, conditions and pay of workers; considers that Unite the Union’s plan encapsulates the magnitude of effort, commitment, collaboration and investment that is required from government in order to secure the survival and subsequent thriving of the hospitality and tourism sectors; urges both UK and Scottish governments to back this plan and engage with Unite the Union to develop an implementation strategy for each element of the plan, and believes that doing so will be critical for protecting the livelihood of workers and businesses in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
