The First Virtual Orkney Storytelling Festival
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the first virtual Orkney Storytelling Festival, which runs from 22 to 25 October 2020; understands that the festival, which is now in its 11th year, will feature a series of pre-recorded storytelling events as part of its online programme; recognises that the festival plays an important role in supporting and raising awareness of the creative work of the area's storytellers, poets and musicians and always offers a varied programme of creative events that caters for all audiences; believes that, each year, the festival forms an integral part of Orkney’s wide and rich culture and continues to not only grow in popularity within Orkney but also reach more people from around the world; pays tribute to everyone involved at the Orcadian Story Trust on their hard work and efforts to ensure that the festival could still go ahead this year and to organise another fantastic line-up of events, and wishes everyone involved with the festival all the very best for another successful and enjoyable long weekend of stories and performances, as well as many more successful years to come.
