Anne McOmish Secures a Butterfly Rainbow for the Balfour Hospital
The motion
That the Parliament thanks Anne McOmish, from Orkney, on securing a copy of a limited-edition artwork by Damien Hirst for display in the Balfour Hospital; understands that the brightly coloured piece, Butterfly Rainbow, was produced to raise funds and show support for the NHS during the COVID-19 pandemic; acknowledges that limited editions have been sold for around £1,500 with all profits going to the NHS and that it has become a symbol of hope in response to the virus with many households across the country producing their own versions to display as a poster in their windows to pay tribute to the incredible work of NHS staff in their community; recognises that Anne, who is the Corporate Records Manager at NHS Orkney, applied for a free copy of the artwork to be displayed in the hospital foyer in recognition of the hard work and exceptional efforts of all NHS staff in the NHS board area; thanks Anne for finding a copy for the Balfour Hospital, and believes that it will be appreciated and admired by all staff, patients and visitors for many years to come.
