The motion

That the Parliament thanks the Scotland rugby team for donating a set of autographed match jerseys from the recent Six Nations Championship victory against Wales to Scotland’s NHS; recognises that the jerseys have been delivered to hospitals across the country, including the Balfour Hospital in Kirkwall, Orkney, in recognition of the hard work and dedication of all health and social care staff in responding to COVID-19; understands that the hospitals can choose whether to display the jerseys in public areas or auction them off to raise vital funds in support of projects that will enhance patient care; acknowledges that the team made the donation following the longest ever Six Nations campaign, after the final round of matches were postponed in March 2020 due to the pandemic, and which included three successive victories for Scotland, to pay tribute to the exceptional work being carried out across the health and social care sectors; thanks the players and management team for their generosity and support for everyone working within Scotland’s NHS during what has been a challenging year, and wishes Gregor Townsend and his team all the very best for their forthcoming Autumn Nations Cup matches.
