Aberdeen Science Centre Reopens
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the reopening of Aberdeen Science Centre to the public following an ambitious £6 million refurbishment; understands that the centre aims to reflect STEM priorities for both industry and education and now offers more than 60 new exhibits aimed at all age ranges, including The OPITO Theatre of Energy, which it understands is the UK’s first immersive experience of its kind, and RoboThespian, a humanoid robot sponsored by the centre’s Digital Futures Partner, Equinor; acknowledges that the project was made possible thanks to generous support and funding from the Inspiring Science Fund, which is a partnership between the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, UK Research and Innovation and The Wellcome Trust, with additional funding provided by Opportunity North East, Aberdeen City Council and a range of other partners and sponsors, and wishes all the team at Aberdeen Science Centre continued success in engaging and educating visitors from across the North East and beyond and inspiring the next generation to pursue careers in the sciences.
