Additional Support for Scotland’s Tourism and Hospitality Sectors During the COVID-19 Pandemic
The motion
As an amendment to motion S5M-23299 in the name of Richard Leonard (Additional Support for Scotland’s Tourism and Hospitality Sectors During the COVID-19 Pandemic), insert at end "; endorses the Unite the Union’s Hospitality and Tourism Rescue Plan for the sector; acknowledges that some elements, such as the long-term future of the Job Retention Scheme and the UK’s inadequate level of sick pay are reserved to the UK Government, and calls on it to take urgent action on these issues; calls on the Scottish Government to take action on the devolved elements of the plan, such as routine testing for hospitality workers, training for the future, the creation of a Hospitality Commission and fair work conditionality of devolved support to the sector; recognises the value of unionisation in a sector that has suffered from persistent and widespread poor employment practices, and thanks those who have worked to ensure that the collective voice of the workforce is heard."
