CalMac Staff Pay Negotiations
The motion
That the Parliament notes with concern reports that CalMac has offered its staff a pay rise of only 0.5% this year, which it considers is significantly below the RPI rate of inflation for 2020 and means a pay cut in real terms despite CalMac staff accepting changes to their shift patterns and working hours in order to keep the ferries running throughout the pandemic; understands that the Scottish Government wholly owns CalMac and has set out a guaranteed basic pay increase of 3% for public sector workers who earn less than £80,000 in its Public Sector Pay Policy, and believes that the Scottish Government must intervene to deliver a meaningful pay rise for CalMac workers.
