The motion
That the Parliament recognises that, on 23 November 2020, the Royal College of Nursing will celebrate the vital contribution that nursing support workers make in caring for the health of the nation through its first Nursing Support Workers’ Day; considers that nursing support workers are the backbone of wards, clinics and community teams across all health and care settings, and play a critical role in delivering high-quality care and excellent outcomes for patients; understands that the term "nursing support workers" encompasses many job roles and titles, including, but not exclusively, Health Care Support Worker, Clinical Support Worker, Carer, Senior Carer and Care Assistant, and expresses its appreciation to nursing support workers across Scotland for their professionalism, dedication, skill and compassion at this extremely challenging time.
